The California Certified Legal Secretary Certification
Established by LPI, the CCLS program offers legal professionals an opportunity to gain professional, personal, and economic excellence in the legal field. CCLS Certification is achieved by passing a 7-hour comprehensive examination conducted by LPI.
Candidates are tested in Law Office Administration, Reasoning and Ethics, Legal Computations, Skills, Ability to Communicate, Legal Terminology, and California Legal Procedure, including Real Estate law, Probate and Estate Planning, Family law, Corporations, and Civil Litigation. A minimum of two years experience is required.
Continuing legal education requirements must be met for re-certification. The CCLS exam is given twice a year — March and October — through LPI.
